MEMBERS

Created on the initiative of five French associations of fight against the AIDS (AIDES, Comment Dire Innovations Sociales, CRIPS, SIDACTION and Solidarité Sida) in March 2002, the ELSA platform counts today a new member following the adhesion in January 2004 of Sida Info Service. The association CMDIS left the platform in March 2005.
The Executive Committee of the ELSA platform is composed of one referent person from every member association and meets every month to plan the activities of the platform.

AIDES

Through the Réseau Afrique 2000, AIDES supports 16 African NGOs in 8 sub-Saharan countries by setting up skills improvement programs.
Inside the Réseau Afrique 2000, the role of AIDES consists in :
- promoting experience exchanges through its members;
- training local associative workers;
- being a mediator towards possible sponsors;
- lobbying for a greater access to medical treatments.

THE CRIPS

The CRIPS (Regional Centre for AIDS Information and Prevention) brings its expertise in specialized information, prevention and documentation on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmissible infections, hepatitis, drug abuse and teen health.

SIDACTION

Sidaction SIDACTION supports programs for access to prevention and to medical treatments in 23 countries over 4 continents. Sidaction proceeds through partnerships with local actors – mainly community-based actors – to reinforce the sustainability of their actions : support to healthcare centres, global care for AIDS infected patients, access to treatments, training courses, etc.

SIDA INFO SERVICE

Sida Info Service proposes to transfer technical expertise, practices and know-how towards southern organizations asking for strengthening their capacities in phone counselling or in setting up a phone counselling device. SIS is also active through training courses in personal and psychological support.

SOLIDARITÉ SIDA

Solidarité Sida offers financial and technical support to local AIDS fighting NGOs in Africa. More specifically, it supports :
- programs dedicated to AIDS infected patients global care,
- programs in lobbying/pleading/information for a greater access to treatments.

FRENCH MOVEMENT FOR FAMILY PLANNING

The French Movement for Family Planning contributes, through training and experience sharing, to strengthen the skills available in 40 associations in 3 African countries in the areas of HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health towards women. The Family Planning supports them in the implementation of networking and in taking actions towards the local institutions.
